Should you still have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us.

2. Conditional acceptance

Applicants who are accepted to the university will receive a Letter Conditional of Acceptance (Offer letter), via email, which confirms the acceptance and lists the program details. Application processing time is 1-2 weeks.

3. Payment of tuition fees

An invoice for the first term fees will be attached to the conditional acceptance letter, listing payment and bank details. Payment methods are listed under Admission & Fees

4. Enrollment and Acceptance Letter

As soon as a payment has been confirmed, the admission will be confirmed. Upon admission to the university students will be issued a Letter of Acceptance. The letter is commonly sent via email. If the original letter is required for a visa application, the documents will be sent via postal mail.

5. Visa application

Before starting the admission process, please make sure you are aware of the rules for your country. You can read more about visa matters under the visa section on our website or contact the international admission office. Students may also contact the nearest Royal Thai Embassy/Consulate for more details. The visa processing time varies from country to country. Hence, students are recommended to apply as early as possible.

6. Accommodation reservation

Bangkok is a very convenient city when it comes to housing. Rates are affordable and there are many options to choose from. If you do not already have your housing situation settled, STIU will assist its new students in finding and reserving accommodations. You can read more about accommodations under Student Life.

7. Arrival in Bangkok

New students are recommend to arrive 5-10 days prior to orientation day. STIU offers a free pick-up service to students who arrive during the official pick-up period and stay in one of our student accommodations. Our international student service department will assist students in getting settled during the first few days.

8. English placement & document verification

Prior to orientation day, most new students need to sit for an English placement test and produce the originals of the qualifications used to apply.

Students who have submitted an English proficiency certificate (IELTS/TOEFL) are exempted from the English placement test. Students who have submitted original versions or certified copies of their qualifications do not need to produce the original documents again.

9. Orientation & Registration

Registration for courses is done on orientation day, which is held the week prior to the date of the term commencement. Orientation is compulsory for all new students.

International students need to apply for a student (non-immigrant ED) visa at their local embassy/consulate. The initial visa will be valid for 90 days only. After arriving in Thailand, successfully registering for courses and starting classes, students are eligible to extend their visas. The Student Services team (which is located at 1st floor of Building 1, Rama 9 Campus) will assist all eligible students in this process and accompany them to the immigration office, if necessary.

Upon arrival or during orientation, new students will be briefed on the visa process and requirements. Students who arrive late or miss the orientation for a different reason, need to get in touch with the university’s visa officer (Student Services team) in order to get an understanding of visa matters.

Please be aware that your passport and any visa you hold is always your own responsibility and you are liable in cases of missed deadlines, overstays and any rules/regulations violated. Failure to comply with the rules/regulations may result in fines or, in severe cases, revoking of the visa. Even though the university stands as sponsor of the visa and assists its students in obtaining and extending it, the student visa can only be issued by the Immigration department or an embassy/consulate, on the authority of the government.
The visa application process may differ, depending to the applicant’s nationality and the country where the application is made. Commonly, it takes 5 – 10 days to obtain a student visa.

The documents required to apply include, but are not limited to:
• Passport
• Passport size photo
• Visa application form (available at the embassy/consulate)
• Academic qualifications used to admission
• Letter of Acceptance/Certification from the university
• Application fee (approximately $75 USD)
Students are advised to contact the embassy/consulate where they intend to apply well in time before submission, in order to ensure a successful application. All relevant details are usually available and well explained the embassy/consulate website.
